On September 18th, 2013 SUM successfully dropped the curtain in USTC with SUMers from C9 League universities exhibiting their achievements in posters. Professors from Stanford, MIT, USTC and other universities as well as elite students from C9 universities took part in the Poster Presentation and have an active communication with each other.

The Poster Presentation for 2013 SUM covered topics of Physics, Chemistry and Materials Science and Geoscience, attracting top students from all over China. College students, master students and doctoral students from the nine top universities in China were the main force and shining spots of the workshop. Young SUMers displayed the meaningful outcomes and potential application values of their scientific researches. During the workshop, SUMers exchanged ideas with foreign professors in fluent oral English and interacted with each other about similarities and differences in their works.

Posters made by young SUMers showed their attention in computing methods, analogy procedures, experimental processes, etc. in Physics, Chemistry and Material Science, and Earth and Space Sciences. Many SUMers established friendly cooperative relationship with professors who were interested in their researches. In Chemistry session, Prof. MIAO Shiding from School of Chemical Engineering in Hefei University of Technology showed strong interest in the work conducted by XU Tianchuan, an excellent college student from Nanjing University, and expressed his wish to cooperate.

SUM 2013 not only provided SUMers with the opportunity to shape an international vision, but also a chance to enjoy the academic atmosphere. “What impresses me most in SUM 2013 is the excellent academic environment. Everyone here is rigorous toward scientific researches and eager to exchange ideas with each other,” said a SUMer from Harbin Institute of Technology.

SUM 2013 has proved to be a triumph which establishes solid foundation for long-term collaboration among Stanford, USTC and MIT. We have reasons to expect that SUM will burst out more energy in the future.
