    • Super Tau-Charm Physics Workshop was held in USTC

    • On 16-17 June, a workshop on “Super tau-charm Physics” was taken place in USTC. The workshop was organized by Collaborative Innovation Center for Elementary Particles and Interactions and physics school of USTC. More than 50 experts and scholars from Institute of Theoretical Physics CAS, Institute of High Energy Physics CAS, Peking University, Tsinghua University, Shandong University, Naikai University etc. are getting together to discuss the future, opportunities and challenges of super tau-charm physics in China.

       Zhu Changfei, vice president of USTC, gave an opening remark in the opening ceremony. He welcomed everybody to USTC and expressed the best wishes to the future of super tau-charm physics. With review of the development of particle physics in USTC, he had high praise for the efforts devoted to “china dream” in the field of particle physics, and wished the workshop a great success.

      Zhao Guangda, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, gave an opening speech at the workshop. He gave a brief introduction of situation of the frontier of the particle physics and future developments, one of which is super tau-charm factory.

      Then followed presentations were given by professors Zhao Zhengguo, Huang Tao, Ma Jianping, Zou Bingsong, Lv Caidian, Yuan Changzheng, Li Haibo, academician Zhang Zhaoxi etc. The overall the present situation and future development of super tau-charm physics are presented.

      Finally, the participants held a hot discussion on the super tau-charm physics. Professor Zhao Zhengguo was elected to lead this research project, and is responsible for the project application. He described the preliminary plan, arrangement of manpower and the project timeline. The participants have done the consensus that now something in theory, accelerator and detector, had to be done carefully. The participants expressed that they will try to do the best job to show the feasibility and significance of the project of super tau-charm.
