
Wang Tinggui, male, born in November 1965 in Zhejiang Province, graduated with a bachelor's degree from Hangzhou University in 1985 and received a Ph.D. in Science from the Astrophysics Center, University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 1992. He is currently a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Department of Astronomy, USTC. In 1999, he was awarded the Distinguished Young Scholars Fund by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and in 2000, he was appointed as a professor at USTC. He was once a visiting student at the Ultraviolet Explorer Center of the European Space Agency (October 1990 - August 1991), a visiting scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics, Germany (August 1994 - May 1995), and an STA Fellow at the Institute of Physical and Chemical Research, Japan (August 1997 - April 1999). His current research interests include the physics of active galactic nuclei, transient events related to supermassive black holes, and some peculiar stellar transient events. To date, he has published over 180 academic papers.
