Li Hai’ou, born in Guzhen, Anhui, is a specially appointed professor and doctoral supervisor at the University of Science and Technology of China. He has been selected as the national top-notch young talent of the Ten Thousand Talents Program, and is also an Anhui Provincial Outstanding Youth and Zhongying Young Scholar. After receiving his Ph.D. from the University of Science and Technology of China in June 2012, he continued working at the university, holding positions as a postdoctoral researcher (2012), associate researcher (2014), specially appointed researcher (2018), and specially appointed professor (2022).

Focusing on the national strategic demand of quantum computer development with the goal of realizing a semiconductor quantum computing prototype, he has been dedicated to the experimental research on the construction, encoding, manipulation, and expansion of scalable semiconductor gate-controlled quantum dot qubits. He has achieved a series of original research results: independently designing and fabricating semiconductor quantum chip materials and quantum dot structures domestically, mastering core technologies for the preparation and manipulation of semiconductor quantum chips. Using these key technologies, he has fabricated various complex semiconductor qubit circuits, successively realizing single-qubit ultrafast universal logic gates, two-qubit controlled NOT gates, and three-qubit Toffoli gates, thus constructing a library of quantum computing logic units based on semiconductor quantum dots. He has designed and fabricated silicon-based semiconductor spin-encoded qubits, achieving efficient regulation of silicon-based spin lifetime, ultrafast hole spin qubit manipulation, and two-spin qubit SWAP gates. Furthermore, he has realized strong coupling between superconducting cavity microwave photons and qubits, as well as long-range coupling of two qubits.

He has published over 100 SCI-indexed papers, with more than 2,300 citations, including over 50 papers in renowned academic journals such as Nature sub-journals and Physical Review Letters as the first or corresponding author. He holds 27 patents. He has undertaken projects including the National 2030 Plan, key projects, general projects, and Young Scientists Fund projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Anhui Provincial Outstanding Youth projects, and major special topics in Anhui Province. His related research achievements won the First Prize of Anhui Provincial Science and Technology Award in 2018 (3/5).
