Shi Yu

Shi Yu received his bachelor's and Ph.D. degrees in physics from Nanjing University in 1989 and 1994, respectively, and then conducted postdoctoral research at the Department of Physics of Fudan University. He has worked at the Cavendish Laboratory and the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics of the University of Cambridge from 1998 to 2003, the Institute for Theoretical Physics of the University of Cologne, the Department of Physics of the University of Illinois, the Institute for Advanced Study of Tsinghua University, and the Department of Physics of the University of Texas. From 2005 to 2023, he served as a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Department of Physics of Fudan University. Since April 2023, he has been a dual-appointed professor at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the School of Physical Sciences of the University of Science and Technology of China.

His theoretical physics work spans quantum physics and quantum information, condensed matter physics, and particle physics. As a corresponding author, he has published approximately 100 papers in international SCI journals. In the field of the history of physics, he has conducted research on the history of modern and contemporary physics and prominent physicists such as Einstein and Chen-Ning Yang, independently publishing about 130 articles on the history of physics and physics popularization.
