During Nov. 21 to 24, Dr. ZHOU Dazhuang, guest professor of National Space Center, CAS, visited State Key Laboratory of Particle Detection and Electronics and performed two lively lectures. Dr. ZHOU presented the model of Tiangong 1 to Modern Physics Department as an acknowledgement of USTC’s cultivation and education to himself. Prof. AN Qi held the presentation ceremony and Prof. CHEN Xiangjun received the gift as a representative.

During his visiting, Dr. ZHOU introduced his research on radiation risk of manned space flight and low energy nuclear reactions. He also interacted with other teachers and students about a program in measuring sea radiation environment after the lectures, and answered various questions patiently. That program is led by Dalian Maritime University, the aim of which is to conduct a general survey of sea radiation and protection against it, which concerns three million mariners and all the principal courses, and possible patents and products derived from that.  Dr. ZHOU is the scientific adviser of that program. On 23rd, Dr. ZHOU visited Geophysical Prospecting Laboratory, China National Offshore Oil Corporation and further the process to establish a cooperation in the area of sea radiation environment measurement.

Dr. ZHOU enrolled Department of Physics, USTC in 1965 and stayed USTC to work afterwards. Then he received his doctorate from Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies. Having a work experience in Enrico Fermi Institute, Italian National Institute for Environmental Protection and Research and Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, he is a scientist of NASA - Johnson Space Center, researcher of Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies and visiting scholar of National Space Center, CAS. His major research fields include high energy physics, cosmic ray physics, space science, radiation environment of aeronautics and astronautics, radiation risk and protection, and green sustainable energy.
