The 3rd National Forum for Student Astronomy Society Development, which is hosted by Amateur Astronomy Association of USTC, was concluded in Aug. 14th. This forum, whose main target is to progress the development of astronomy in China as well as enhance the cooperation among different societies, was originated by Youth Astronomy Society, a student society in Peking University.

More than 40 societies from varied universities, senior high schools and elementary schools attended the 6-day-long forum convened in Shandong University at Weihai. Discussions about the advancement and improvement of astronomy societies initiated the forum, while various astronomical phenomena such as occultation of Venus by the Moon, Iridium Flares highlighted the forum and amazed the observers. But they are just icing on the cake, since the protagonist is undoubtedly the Perseids, one of the most prolific meteor shower in a year.

Amateur Astronomy Association is among the liveliest societies in USTC. Almost all students in USTC can find a society where they can share their hobby with others. Numerous societies lend themselves to enrich and embellish students' campus life, they also providing a platform for students' interests to burgeon.
The coordination of this forum is under the direction of Beijing Planetarium and Department of Astronomy.
