On 27-29,Jan, Prof. Gary S. Varner from University of Hawaii was invited to visit Key Laboratory of Technologies of Particle Detection & Electronics, CAS and held a academic exchange with our teachers.
During his visit, Prof.Gary S. Varner gave two reports titled “The Belle II KLM Upgrade”and“ASICs for Next Generation Particle and Astroparticle Detectors” . The two sides also discussed the possibility of academic cooperation in the future. According to Prof.Gary S. Varner, our exchange students will be welcomed to their laboratory to better promote the ASIC design in Technologies of Particle Detection & Electronics Laboratory.
Gary S. Varner graduated from Boston University (M.A in Experimental Physics), and obtained his Ph.D degree in University of Hawaii. Now he works as associate professor of Physics and Astronomy in the University of Hawaii as well as the director of Instrumentation Development Laboratory. He participated in the BEPC II BES III, KEK BELLE, SLAC, and other Antarctic ANITA experiment, and designed a variety of high-speed waveform digital sampling chips such as LABRADOR, STRAW,TARGET, etc.
